GIRO D'ITALIA CASE 2008 (for Realaxiom and Realpower)

€107.50

GIRO D'ITALIA 2008 COURSES:

  • PALERMO Dist. 27,5km Max Slope 5,1% Elv.Gain 153m Avg.Slope 1,0%
We are in Palermo, in splendid Sicily, on the course of the team time trial that started the 91st Giro d’Italia. 26.3 km winding through the historical-cultural beauties of the Sicilian capital. A flat course but very spectacular, and just right for a race where it is necessary to use high gears in order to obtain maximum speed. Ideal for testing one’s own qualities as a chronoman in a one to one race against time.
  • CEFALU'-AGRIGENTO Dist. 55km Max Slope 16,3% Elv.Gain 1383m Avg.Slope 5,7%
We are on the course of the first part of the 2008 race from Cefalù to Agrigento, in the heart of the Madonie park, one of the tourist gems in Sicily. There is about 55 km in the middle part of the stage, and precisely from Castevuturo to the gran premio della montagna of Polizzello at 813 m asl, between the provinces of Palermo and Caltanisetta. A demanding course, with no flat ground but continual uphill and downhill sections through the Madonie mountain range where, in order to obtain maximum performance, it is necessary to keep pedalling smoothly and relaunch the action. The climb is for 9.8 km with a height difference of 356 m, an average slope of 3.6%25 and a maximum of 8%25.
  • CATANIA-MILAZZO Dist. 47,2km Max Slope 8,7% Elv.Gain 1283m Avg.Slope 4,6%
After the Palermo team time trial of and the first part to Agrigento, there is also the Catania-Milazzo third stage, which ends the three Sicilian days of the 2008 Giro d’Italia. The toughest section of the stage that goes around the Etna massif is proposed here, going from Paternò to the town of Randazzo. 55 km of deep valleys with never a section of plain. After a very brief downhill section on apparently flat ground we immediate start going up, to tackle the climb leading to the gran premio della montagna of Maletto at 1017 m asl. The climb continues for about 30 km with mild slopes, of an average 1.9%25, and a short stretch at 8%25 only in the hardest part. A smooth climb enabling a high pedalling rate to be sustained; and ideal for exercising the legs and lungs. Once out of the hills, the short descent towards Randazzo will lead us to the finish line for the day.
  • BELVEDERE MARITTIMO-CONTURSI TERME Dist. 68,9km Max Slope 10,5% Elv.Gain 1180m Avg.Slope 2,9%
The 5th stage of the 2008 Giro joins Calabria and the Campania region. The first part of the stage, approx. 66 km between Marcellina and the gran premio della montagna of Fortino at 783 m asl, is proposed. The road starts to climb right from the very first km, going from just a few metres above sea level on the Calabrian coast to the Fortino pass which leads into the Campania region. The most difficult part of the climb is the last 3.6 km, with a height difference of 173 m and an average slope of 4.8%25, reaching a maximum of 8%25 in some sections.
  • VASTO-PESCOCOSTANZO Dist. 48km Max Slope 10,3% Elv.Gain 955m Avg.Slope 4,2%
This is the last part of the 7th stage of the 2008 Giro with arrival uphill in Pescocostanzo, Majella area in the province of L’Aquila (Abruzzi), near the Peschio massif, amidst the green grasslands of the Altipiani Maggiori. These are the last 48 km, leading to the town of Ponte Zittola (820 m) and then to the finish line in Pescocostanzo at 1454 m asl, through the gran premio della montagna of Pietransieri, which leads to the renowned skiing resort of Roccaraso. The 9.2 km climb is demanding, with a height difference of 594 m, an average slope of 6.5%25 and a maximum of 10%25.
  • CIVITAVECCHIA-SAN VINCENZO Dist. 66,3km Max Slope 12,0% Elv.Gain 454m Avg.Slope 2,0%
We are on the 9th stage of the Giro, in the heart of Italy, on the coast road between Civitavecchia, in the province of Rome, and San Vincenzo, a tourist resort on the Etruscan Coast in Tuscany. The 70 km going from Follonica to the finish line in San Vincenzo are proposed here. We are also in the area of two 2-time world cycling champions: the junior winner Diego Ulissi from Donoratico and the senior championship winner Paolo Bettini, who are at home on these roads. The course proposed is interesting and very “nervous”, going through the gran premio della montagna of Campiglia Marittima at 202 m asl (4.5 km with a height difference of 190 m, an average slope of 4.2%25 and a maximum of 9%25) and the San Carlo climb, tackled by the riders also in the Etruscan Coast GP which traditionally starts the Italian pro season every year in February.
  • URBANIA-CESENA Dist. 62,8km Max Slope 17,0% Elv.Gain 1880m Avg.Slope 5,0%
This is the 11th stage of the Giro, and we are in the province of Pesaro Urbino on the roads between the Marches region and the Romagna region (where cycling is a popular passion), with a decidedly uneven altimetric profile. We will ride about 55 km on the section of road between Osteria Nuova and the gran premio della montagna of Monte Carpegna, an Apennine climb well-known to all cyclists, also going through the gran premio della montagna of San Marino which will be the first rugged stretch of the day with its 7.4 km climb going from sea level to the 645 m asl of the little Repubblica del Titano with a height difference of 502 m, an average slope of 6.8%25 and a maximum of 9%25. A short downhill section leads to the locality of Ponte Cappuccini where the climb starts again. Carpegna is no laughing matter, and the climb continues to 1358 m asl. It is a real climb, 6 km long with an average slope of nearly 10%25 and even 14%25 in some parts.
  • ARABBA-PASSO FEDAIA Dist. 26,9km Max Slope 16,4% Elv.Gain 1160m Avg.Slope 7,8%
This is the 15th stage of the Giro d’Italia, the Dolomites stage par excellence of the 2008 race, winding almost entirely in the territory of the province of Belluno. Passo Fedaia, the most spectacular climb, is proposed here. We will ride the last 27 km of the stage, starting downhill to warm up the muscles, from Cernadoi to Caprile. Here, the climb begins gently as far as Rocca Pietore, then at the end of the town we enter the Serrai di Sottoguda, and the climb becomes harder through the spectacular natural canyon carved in the rock by the water. The last 6 km from Malga Ciapela to the finish are the toughest. The climb, which leads to the foot of the Marmolada glacier, is 13.3 long, with a height difference of 1059 m. The average slope is 8%25 with some very difficult sections of up to 18%25!
  • LEGNANO-PRESOLANA Dist. 44,8km Max Slope 9,9% Elv.Gain 1372m Avg.Slope 5,6%
We are at the end of the Giro d’Italia with the Lombard Alps tackled during the course of the 19th stage, Legnano-Presolana, which proposes the last uphill finish of the 2008 race. We will ride on the roads of Lombardy, in the province of Bergamo, and precisely covering the 40 km from the town of Schilpario to the finish line in Presolana on Monte Pora. The first challenge is the Presolana pass, with 4.8 km leading to 1297 m asl with an average slope of 8.2%25 and a maximum of 16%25. Then there are steep descents to the town of Bratto before the final climb to the finish line on Monte Pora at 1435 m asl; a 6.4 km climb with a height difference of 438 m and an average slope of 6.8%25 with some section at 11%25.
